Amanda Owen's 'Dismal' Yorkshire Farm Weather Update

Amanda Owen, the beloved star of Channel 4's Our Yorkshire Farm and Our Farm Next Door, has offered her followers a frank glimpse into life at Ravenseat, candidly admitting the weather has been "dismal" in a recent social media post.

Instagram Update from the Yorkshire Shepherdess

Taking to Instagram, the farmer and television personality, often dubbed the Yorkshire Shepherdess, shared photographs from the fields where she was tending to her flock. The images captured the wind whipping through her hair, visually underscoring the harsh conditions she described.

In her caption, Amanda Owen wrote, "Goodness me there’s been some dismal kinda days weatherise." She humorously suggested that perhaps it was wiser to "enjoy the great outdoors from the even greater indoors," playfully hinting that fans should stay in and watch her television programmes, a notion she emphasised with tea cup and television emojis and the tease: "Ewe know how to do it."

Fan Support and Family Life at Ravenseat

The update prompted an immediate and warm response from her dedicated fanbase. Supporters flooded the comments with messages of admiration and solidarity.

  • One follower praised her resilience, stating, "You do what you have to do to keep everything ticking over. You are the beating heart of the Ravenseat universe."
  • Another remarked on the positive side, commenting, "Ah good invigorating weather puts a spring n ur step," while others simply called her "Fabulous as always."
  • A further fan noted the inherent challenges and rewards, writing, "It’s a tough life at times, however, the smile tells us the reward you receive at times."

Amanda, 51, lives and works on the remote Ravenseat farm in the Upper Swaledale region of the Yorkshire Dales. She runs the farm alongside her ex-husband, Clive Owen, and their nine children: Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine, and Nancy.

From Our Yorkshire Farm to Our Farm Next Door

The family first captured the nation's heart with the documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm, which aired from 2018 and chronicled their daily lives. Following its conclusion, Channel 4 commissioned a new series, Our Farm Next Door, which follows the Owens as they undertake the restoration of a derelict building near their existing property.

Describing the unique appeal of the show to her Instagram followers recently, Amanda explained that it defies simple categorisation. "Countryside, animals, family, relationships, characters, history… it's not a soap opera, definitely not Emmerdale, it is not Countryfile, not Grand Designs, it isn’t Victorian farm," she said. "It just is not any one thing, not conventional, educational or motivational. You just should watch it and take away from it whatever it is that interests you personally."

The latest series, Our Farm Next Door, continues to air on Channel 4, offering viewers further insight into the captivating, if sometimes weather-beaten, world of the Yorkshire Shepherdess and her family.
