Reality TV star Dani Dyer has given a candid insight into her husband Jarrod Bowen's intense reaction to watching her endure the punishing trials of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The West Ham United footballer apparently took on the role of a stern observer as he saw his wife face one of the toughest challenges of her life.
The 'Drill Sergeant' in the Living Room
Speaking on her podcast, Live and Let Dyers, with fellow contestant Gabby Allen, Dani, 29, described the scene. She revealed that as they watched the episode featuring a daunting underwater challenge, Jarrod Bowen "sat like a Drill Sergeant" beside her, scrutinising her every move. The former Love Island winner admitted the Channel 4 military-style show was among the "hardest things" she has ever done, yet she expressed a surprising willingness to sign up again.
A Brutal Baptism of Fire
The first episode of the series, which aired in January 2026, threw celebrity recruits straight into the deep end. Dani was immediately pitted against Married At First Sight star Jessika Power in a boxing match. Despite wearing protective headgear, Dani was left with a bloody nose after taking a punch square in the face, leading to Power being declared the winner by chief instructor Mark 'Billy' Billingham. Dani later told The Mirror the entire experience was "brutal."
Prior to entering the SAS compound, Dani sought advice from her professional athlete husband. Jarrod Bowen told her to "up her training", leading her to unconventional workout sessions. "We went up to his family in the Midlands. I was training in potato fields with my dad, running up and down," she explained to The Sun. This outdoor regimen was a stark contrast to her usual gym routine and prepared her for the "nitty-gritty" of the challenges ahead.
Family Pride and Personal Strength
Dani, the daughter of EastEnders legend Danny Dyer, said both her father and her husband initially thought she was "nuts" for taking part. She married footballer Jarrod Bowen in May, and the couple are parents to twins Summer and Star. While her dad, a self-confessed non-fitness enthusiast, was incredibly proud, he was baffled by her decision.
Despite the gruelling nature of the show, which involved constant pressure and never being able to "switch off," Dani discovered a newfound resilience. She learned she is "a lot stronger" than she thought. The intense interrogation sessions with the Directing Staff (DS) even helped her cope with public scrutiny and insecurity. "They wanted to know what my weaknesses were and make me deal with them," she said, noting that the experience taught her to value the opinions of loved ones over strangers.
Dani concluded that while the process was brutally tough, she "really enjoyed it" and would be keen to test herself again, next time aiming to be "a lot more headstrong." Her podcast, Live and Let Dyers, where she discussed the experience, is available on Global Player and other major podcast platforms.
