Danny Dyer 'Set for Celebrity Traitors' After U-Turn on BBC Show
Danny Dyer 'lined up' for Celebrity Traitors series two

EastEnders actor Danny Dyer is reportedly in line to become a contestant on the upcoming second series of the BBC's hit show, The Celebrity Traitors.

From Rejection to Recruitment

According to sources, the 48-year-old star was the top choice for producers during the casting for the show's debut celebrity series but initially turned down the opportunity. However, after watching the 'fun and games' of the first series, which was won by comedian Alan Carr, Dyer is said to have changed his mind.

A source told The Sun: "Danny was always top of The Celebrity Traitors wish list but had zero interest until seeing the fun and games last autumn. As soon as his tune changed, it was all systems go."

Dream Signing for the Highlands

Described as a 'reality TV booker’s dream signing', Dyer is expected to bring a different dynamic to the show. The source added: "Bosses don’t want to repeat the same formula and he’ll be absolute gold. He’s naturally funny but in a totally different way to Alan Carr."

While casting can change last minute—as seen with Daisy May Cooper in series one—insiders suggest Dyer is 'all set to join filming up in the Scottish Highlands later this year.'

Dyer's Traitor Ambitions

The actor has already publicly discussed his desire to appear on the programme, specifically eyeing the role of a Traitor. Speaking on his podcast, Live and Let Dyer, he said: "If the money’s right, I might get involved in the next series. I think I’d want to be a Traitor... it’s more fun to be a Traitor, you’ve got a job."

He analysed the game, stating: "It’s actually just about people manipulating people and a lot of lying. If you’re a Faithful, it’s hard, you’re trying to overact that you’re a Faithful and it backfires on you."

In other casting news, This Morning presenter Alison Hammond is also said to be high on the BBC's list for the new series. Hammond revealed in November that she would choose to be a Faithful if she ever took part.
