Donna Kelce's Blunt Warning on 'The Traitors': Exes Not Welcome
Donna Kelce's blunt warning to sons' exes on The Traitors

Donna Kelce, the mother of NFL heroes Travis and Jason Kelce, has delivered a characteristically forthright verdict on who she would not want to share a screen with, as she prepares for her debut on the new season of The Traitors.

"Maybe Some Of My Sons' Adversaries"

Ahead of filming the popular reality competition, the 73-year-old was asked which fellow contestants she would prefer to avoid. Her answer was unequivocal. "Maybe some of my sons’ adversaries," Donna stated. "That could either be on other teams, or it could be coaches, or it could be past girlfriends."

Given that her eldest son, Jason Kelce, has been happily married to Kylie Kelce for seven years, the remarks have been widely interpreted as a pointed reference to the former partners of her younger son, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The Ex-Girlfriend Context

Before Travis Kelce's very public romance with global superstar Taylor Swift began in September 2023, he was in a high-profile, on-off relationship with influencer Kayla Nicole from 2017 until 2022. Nicole has previously spoken about the difficulties of their public split, telling Special Forces: World's Toughest Test that dealing with online trolls left her feeling "overwhelming" and in a "constant state of vulnerability."

Prior to Nicole, Kelce briefly dated Maya Benberry, whom he met in 2016 while hosting the reality dating show Catching Kelce.

A Dream Role and Early Exit

Discussing her appearance on The Traitors, which is filmed in Scotland, Donna revealed the enthusiastic support she received from her famous sons. "They're so excited. They're huge fans," she said, adding that the opportunity was a chance to reinvent herself. "When you get to a certain part in your life and your kids are starting their own families, it's so important to reinvent yourself. Do the things you've always dreamt of."

However, her time on the game was cut short. After being secretly assigned the role of a Traitor, Donna was voted out early by the Faithful contestants, who grew suspicious of her unusually quiet demeanour. "Playing a traitor was tough, but I gave it my best shot," a tearful Donna reflected after her elimination. "These are happy tears that I get to do this at this point in my life."

The comments have sparked discussion among fans, highlighting the intense scrutiny that comes with being part of one of America's most talked-about sporting families, especially now that Donna Kelce is set to become Taylor Swift's mother-in-law.
