In a significant behind-the-scenes shift, Katie Price has reportedly filmed content for the upcoming second series of her daughter's reality television programme. This marks a notable U-turn after the former glamour model was conspicuously absent from the show's debut season.
A Dramatic Reversal for the Reality Series
The 47-year-old was not featured in the first series of 'The Princess Diaries', which launched on ITV last year. The show followed her 18-year-old daughter, Princess Andre, as she embarked on building a public career. The initial line-up included Princess's father, singer Peter Andre, her stepmother Emily MacDonagh, and her brother Junior, but Katie was missing.
At the time, Katie Price revealed she had been prevented from taking part at the request of Princess's management team. However, as filming for two further seasons progressed, the situation appears to have changed dramatically. A source told The Sun: 'Katie has been filming some scenes for the new series of The Princess Diaries.'
Video Calls and a Visible Presence
The insider explained that while Katie's involvement is not full-time, she will have a visible presence in the new episodes. 'She will appear on various video calls with her daughter like on FaceTime and things, so she will have a presence in the upcoming episodes,' they said. The source emphasised the turnaround, adding: 'It's quite the turnaround as Katie was banned from appearing last time around, but she is a huge part of Princess's life and both Princess and Katie wanted her mum to be in the show.'
This development follows significant controversy. When the first series aired in August last year, Katie expressed her fury on her podcast about being excluded. She addressed claims that her well-documented personal struggles—including bankruptcies and legal issues—were damaging her daughter's image.
Katie passionately stated that she wanted the best for her children and would never obstruct their paths. She highlighted the pain of being barred from Princess's professional milestones, especially given that Princess is following a similar career trajectory to her own in the public eye.
Family Dynamics and Future Episodes
The first series showed Princess at home with her father Peter and stepmother Emily, with Katie featuring only via a voice recording. The show's popularity secured commissions for two more seasons. Interestingly, it is now thought that Peter Andre, 52, and Emily, 36, have chosen to step back from the upcoming new season.
Insiders suggest this decision was made following discussions between the influencer and her father, aiming to reduce the 'noise' surrounding Katie's initial absence from the programme.
The new series is expected to follow the young star abroad as she explores new business ventures, as well as capturing a 'big beauty gig' she has lined up in Liverpool. The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for ITV, Princess Andre, Peter Andre, and Katie Price for comment.
