In a remarkably candid and supportive interview, television personality Kerry Katona has shown her true colours with a powerful and loyal defence of her best friend, the former model Katie Price.
A Glimpse of Unwavering Loyalty
The former Atomic Kitten member, Kerry Katona, 45, did not hold back in her praise for Price during a recent discussion. She was swiftly lauded online for her steadfast support of the reality star, whom she described as anything but fragile.
"Kate is not fragile. She’s the strongest woman I know," Katona declared. "She’s also more sober, more together, than anyone gives her credit for. And she will get her empire back. I am in awe of her."
This clear verdict on Price's character comes at a time when the former glamour model has been open about her mental health challenges, revealing last week that her life had become "sad and lonely". Price's recent cosmetic surgery procedures, including one on her lips this month, have also been a topic of public discussion.
Mirrored Lives and Mutual Understanding
Katona, a mother-of-five herself, explained that the deep bond between them stems from their parallel life experiences. She revealed that some people had advised her to steer clear of Price, but she vehemently disagreed.
"People said, 'Don’t touch Kate. Don’t go near her.' What is wrong with them?" Katona questioned. "I’ve been where Kate has been. I’ve done the drugs, divorces, bankruptcy. Our lives are very mirrored. Why would I not support her? No one supported me."
This shared history of personal turmoil, including Katona's own two bankruptcies and past struggles, has forged an unbreakable crutch of support between the two women.
Fans Rally Behind Katona's Stance
The public response to Kerry's interview has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans taking to social media to commend her loyalty. One supporter posted, "Tough cookie- well done Kerry you’re looking fab too." Another added, "I admire your loyalty, Kerry. You are strong like Katie too."
Despite their similarities, Katona did highlight one area where they differ: their approach to parenting. While both have five children, Katona described herself as the "more strict" and "more fiery" parent compared to Price's laidback style.
Katona's own journey has been fraught with challenges. She recently took part in a documentary exploring the unhealthy aspects of being propelled to fame at a young age, having found fame at just 18 with Atomic Kitten. She left the band just days before their first UK number one, "Whole Again", was released in January 2001.
The friendship continues to extend to the next generation, with Katona revealing that at the time of the interview, her daughter Heidi was at Katie's house, filming a new reality TV show with Price's daughter, Princess.
