As the launch of Love Island All Stars faces an unexpected delay due to wildfires, returning contestant Ciaran Davies has candidly shared the aspect of villa life he dreads the most: the catering.
The Foodie's Complaint
The 23-year-old from South Wales, who finished as a runner-up in season 11, confessed he was distinctly unimpressed with the meals provided by ITV during his first stint. "Last time I didn’t like the food," Davies admitted. A self-proclaimed foodie who often shares meal photos on social media, he is hoping for a significant upgrade this time around.
He revealed his optimism stems from the catering he has experienced while in pre-show holding, telling The Sun: "I’ve had food from South Africa whilst I’ve been here and the food is amazing, so I’m hoping it’s gonna be the same standard."
Strange Meals and Self-Catering
This is not the first time Ciaran has voiced his culinary criticisms. Speaking previously on the Mirror's Bombshell Briefing podcast, he detailed some of the unusual menus the Islanders faced. "When you wake up, your breakfast isn't the usual cereal... sometimes you were getting a Sunday roast half hour after waking up," he explained.
The bizarre meal times and offerings left him perplexed. "I really didn't know what to do with myself," he said. The situation became so unsatisfactory that he and fellow Islander Ayo Odukoya began cooking for themselves towards the end of their stay.
One particularly memorable dish was a banana curry, which Davies surprisingly rated as "one of the nicest tasting" meals they had, despite its strangeness. "When they said there would be catering... I thought it would just be normal food, but we were having banana curry," he recalled.
Contrasting Views and Genuine Intentions
However, not all former Islanders agree with Ciaran's assessment. Callum Jones, another All Stars alum, told food site Mob that the catering was generally good, with varied options including different meats, fish, and vegan dishes. He did concede that specific food requests were "limited" and could take weeks to arrive, but confirmed Islanders had access to a well-stocked snack fridge and a weekly takeaway.
Beyond the food, Ciaran admitted he is also not looking forward to the villa's talent show or the heart rate challenge. His primary goal for returning remains sincere: to find a girlfriend. His previous relationship with co-star Nicole Samuel, which began in the villa, ended months after they left the show.
Production Halted by Wildfires
The new series of Love Island All Stars was originally scheduled to begin on January 12, 2026, but has been postponed indefinitely after raging wildfires forced an immediate production halt and evacuation. An official statement on the show's Instagram confirmed the delay, stating: "Health and safety is our greatest priority... the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed." ITV has not yet announced a new start date.
