Maya Jama's Cape Town Break Amid Love Island Delay

Love Island host Maya Jama has offered fans a peek into her unexpected downtime in South Africa, after the launch of Love Island: All Stars was postponed due to dangerous wildfires near the villa.

Unexpected Break in a 'New Home'

The 31-year-old presenter, who flew out last week ahead of the scheduled start, has found herself with some impromptu chill time in Cape Town. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Maya shared snippets of her activities, describing her mood as "wholesome as heck." In one clip, she showcased her toned figure in a black bejewelled bikini from Hunza G, captioning it: "Been letting the skin breathe and it's thanking me."

Elsewhere, she filmed herself strolling through the city she now considers a "new home," having visited for four consecutive years. "I've been strutting around, popping into all the shops and saying 'Hey I'm back','' she said, adding that she feels like a local. Maya also revealed she has rented a bike to jet around during her days off.

Production Halted Amid Safety Concerns

The relaxed posts come after ITV was forced to delay the launch, originally scheduled for Monday evening, indefinitely. Filming was due to begin over the weekend but was pushed back as emergency services battled wildfires in the Wemmershoek area, close to the luxury villa.

In a statement shared on Monday night, ITV confirmed the delay, stating: "Just a reminder that the Love Island launch show has been delayed due to wild fires near the villa in South Africa. Everyone is safe though and we're working on bringing you an iconic series." The network is yet to confirm a new launch date.

Financial Stakes and Future Plans

Reports suggest the delay is costing ITV over £15,000 an hour due to commitments to crew, staff, and other professionals on the ground. A source indicated that bosses are waiting for the area to be "deemed completely safe" before proceeding.

Despite the setback, there is optimism that filming could commence as soon as Wednesday, though an official air date remains unconfirmed. The confirmed All Stars contestants, including Millie Court and Tommy Fury's brother Tommy Bradley, along with unannounced 'bombshells,' are currently waiting in high-end accommodations.

Maya shared an update from her villa on Monday, posting a snap of the property's lush lawns and clear sky, hinting with a clock emoji that she, like fans, is eagerly awaiting the all-clear to begin the iconic series.
