Reality TV stars Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks have sent their fanbase into a festive frenzy with an utterly chaotic and hilarious Christmas nativity sketch for their popular podcast. The outrageous performance, which aired on Tuesday, featured the pair in pivotal biblical roles with a comedic twist that has since gone viral on social media.
A Podcast Christmas Miracle
In the now-infamous sketch, Sam Thompson, 33 from Made in Chelsea, took on the role of the Virgin Mary. He was seen wearing a blue and white dress with a veil, dramatically panting through a labour scene. The 'baby' he delivered was none other than his co-host, Pete Wicks, 37 from The Only Way Is Essex, who appeared as the infant Jesus wearing a bald cap. After Pete's head emerged from between Sam's legs, Sam kissed his 'newborn', culminating in a clip shared to Instagram where Sam slipped over, landed on Pete, and both collapsed into fits of laughter.
The pair captioned their social media post: 'It’s a Christmas miracle! The real miracle is Pete actually agreed to do this… in a bald cap'. The full stage production of their nativity, which intriguingly included live donkeys, has been uploaded to YouTube. The audience for the live recording included Sam's sister, Louise Thompson, her husband Ryan Libbey, and their three-year-old son Leo.
Fan Reaction and Festive Charity Work
Fans and friends raced to the comments section to share their amusement. Pete's rumoured love interest, Strictly Come Dancing professional Jowita Przystał, simply wrote: 'I don’t even know what to say'. Other followers compared the experience to a classic family living room play, with one adding: 'My sides hurt from laughing absolutely made my day!'
In a more serious and heartwarming festive engagement, Sam also made a surprise appearance at Great Ormond Street Hospital's annual Christmas party this week. The Snow Ball event, held near the hospital in Central London, allows young patients and their families a few hours of festive fun away from the wards. Sam posed for photos and delivered a heartfelt speech, stating: ‘I’ve never met braver people in my life, these children are superheroes and the volunteers nurses and doctors are angels in human form.' Singer Becky Hill performed at the party, which also featured crafts, an F1 car display, and festive food.
Personal Lives Move Forward
The comedic podcast episode comes as both stars' personal lives continue to evolve. Sam's ex-girlfriend, Zara McDermott, has been dropping hints that her romance with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is heating up ahead of their first Christmas together. She recently shared a photo of neatly wrapped presents under her tree, some labelled from both her and Louis, following a cosy birthday weekend away with him and his sister.
Meanwhile, Sam has gone Instagram-official with his new girlfriend, DJ Talitha Balinska, 25, after confirming their relationship earlier in December. The pair, who were set up by a mutual friend, were seen beaming in a cosy snap from a London dinner date. Sam and Zara dated for around five years before splitting at the end of 2024, with Sam later revealing he sought therapy after the breakup.
