Strictly Come Dancing finalist Amber Davies was overcome with emotion during a live television appearance, breaking down in tears as she looked back on her whirlwind journey to the BBC show's grand final.
Emotional Outburst on Live TV
The 29-year-old West End star struggled to contain her feelings while speaking to host Fleur East on Tuesday's episode of the Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two. Davies, who was a last-minute replacement for the injured Dani Dyer, expressed sheer disbelief at having reached the competition's climax.
"It makes me wanna cry, honestly," she confessed. "I can't believe I'm here, just the way that we started. I had this random phone call on a Wednesday night, to being in the final and having the best 12 weeks of my life." Her professional dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin, swiftly fetched a box of tissues as her emotions overflowed.
Cherishing Every Final Moment
Davies's tears flowed once more as she contemplated the end of her Strictly adventure with Kuzmin. "We are tired, but do you know what? This is the last few days and I'm just so grateful," she explained, apologising for being a "crier." She revealed the poignant moment that sparked her morning, saying, "My alarm went off this morning and I jumped out of bed, because I just thought that this was the last Tuesday."
She poignantly added, "I just wanna cherish every single moment that I have left with you. The Strictly bubble is bursting, it came into my life with a vengeance and now it feels like it's leaving just as quickly. I have loved every single second of it and I'm gonna miss it so much. I'm mourning it now!"
From Love Island to the Strictly Spotlight
Davies, who won Love Island in 2017, has since forged a successful theatre career following training at London's prestigious Urdang Academy. Her stage credits include 9 to 5: The Musical and The Great Gatsby, with a leading role as Elle Woods in a UK tour of Legally Blonde scheduled for next year.
Despite her performance background, the star has consistently stated that Strictly training was unlike anything she had experienced before. Her journey hasn't been without difficulty, as she has faced significant online criticism, which she has described as crossing the line into bullying.
Following the semi-final, which saw her defeat EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal in the dance-off, Davies took to social media to share her gratitude. In a heartfelt video message, she told followers, "In the close to a decade I've been in the public eye, I've never experienced an outpouring of love the way I have in the last 48 hours."
She praised her fellow finalists—YouTube star George Clarke and footballer Karen Carney—saying she was "rooting" for them. Davies concluded with a powerful reflection on her experience: "I think I've needed to do Strictly to realise that there is so much kindness in this world."
