Fans of the hit BBC show The Traitors were left utterly stunned when original series one star Amanda Lovett made a surprise appearance looking dramatically different. The 57-year-old Welsh TV personality featured on Friday's episode of the companion show The Traitors Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble, alongside fellow Welsh stars Charlotte Church and the recently banished contestant Fiona.
A Phenomenal On-Screen Transformation
It wasn't her cunning tactics as one of the show's first Traitors that dominated the conversation this time, but her remarkably youthful appearance. Viewers quickly took to social media to express their shock, with many claiming they barely recognised her. Amanda looked incredible in a black capped sleeve mini-dress, paired with sheer tights and brown suede boots for the filming.
The mum-of-five and grandmother-of-six has been dedicated to a rigorous skincare regime, investing in high-quality creams and undergoing facial threading. This non-surgical procedure is designed to lift sagging skin and stimulate collagen for a more youthful look. However, Amanda found the effects, which cost between £500 to £650 per session, were only temporary, with her face beginning to droop again within months.
The Decision Behind the £7.5k Facelift
This led Amanda to opt for a more permanent solution. She decided to undergo a neck and lower facelift, a procedure that cost £7,600 and took four to five hours to complete. She was awake under local anaesthetic during the operation. Amanda explained her decision, stating that watching herself on camera from unflattering angles made her increasingly self-conscious about the sagging skin on her face and neck.
"I started to think about needing to wear a scarf or polo necks just to hide this area of my body that I didn't like," she told fans. "But then I thought, why should I do that when there is help out there that can sort this issue out and take the years back a bit?" She described the sensation during surgery as a lot of "tugging and pulling" but found it comforting enough to doze off at one point.
Recovery and Revealing the Results
The recovery process took dedication. The swelling subsided after three to four weeks, but a full recovery from the surgery took around three months. Amanda was back socialising with friends after just three weeks. She has since expressed immense satisfaction with the results, proudly stating she now has no visible scars and feels the outcome is "absolutely amazing."
This isn't the first time Amanda's new look has caused a stir. Back in December, she showcased her dramatic weight loss and the results of her facelift in a striking green dress while beaming in front of her Christmas tree. The reaction to her Uncloaked appearance confirms that her transformation continues to captivate the audience who first met her during her devious gameplay on the show's inaugural series, where her journey was cut short after fellow Traitor Wilfred Webster turned on her.
