Traitors fans spot celebrity in contestant's watch party video

Devoted fans of the BBC's hit reality show The Traitors have been left scratching their heads after a well-known celebrity made a surprise appearance in a social media video featuring one of the contestants.

Celebrity Sighting Sparks Fan Confusion

The mystery unfolded after the show's highly anticipated fourth series launched on New Year's Day. Host Claudia Winkleman welcomed 22 new players to the Scottish castle, where they were secretly divided into Faithfuls and Traitors, including a new 'secret traitor' whose identity is unknown to all.

As the series is pre-recorded, contestants are free to post on social media while episodes air. One contestant, Stephen Libby, shared a video from a watch party where his family and friends reacted to the dramatic moment he was chosen as a Traitor in the first episode alongside Hugo and Rachel.

The clip, posted on TikTok by user @jackelsain, shows the group erupting into screams and applause when Claudia taps Stephen on the shoulder. However, eagle-eyed viewers quickly spotted a famous face among the crowd.

Who is the Famous Face in the Room?

Sitting in Stephen's living room was none other than stand-up comedian, writer, and actress Lou Sanders. In the video, she is seen covering her eyes in suspense as Stephen is selected before joining in the applause.

Sanders is a familiar figure on British television, having appeared on numerous panel shows, performed on Live at the Apollo, and won the eighth series of Taskmaster in 2019. She recently featured in Last One Laughing UK alongside Jimmy Carr and Bob Mortimer.

The unexpected cameo prompted a flood of confused comments from fans online. One person asked, "Why is Lou Sanders there please?" while another queried, "What’s the relation to Lou Sanders?" A third simply noted, "Lou Sanders is here, so that’s cool."

The Contestant at the Centre of the Mystery

The contestant hosting the watch party, Stephen Libby, is a 32-year-old cyber security professional who lives in London. He originally hails from one of Scotland's most remote islands, the Isle of Lewis. The main town, Stornoway, has a population of approximately 6,000 and is accessible only by plane or ferry.

The connection between Stephen and the celebrity guest remains unclear, adding an extra layer of intrigue for fans of the high-stakes reality competition, where players vie for a substantial cash prize.

The Traitors continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm on Wednesday, January 7.
