Andrew's Dogs Face Uncertain Future at New Sandringham Residence
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, the disgraced former prince, has been spotted driving with his fluffy terrier in recent days, but his plans to bring his beloved dogs to his new exile home at Marsh Farm in Sandringham could be thwarted by strict estate regulations. The shamed ex-duke has been adapting to a life far removed from his former privileges in recent weeks, with his temporary residence at Wood Farm serving as a stark contrast to his previous royal lifestyle.
Strict Estate Rules Could Prohibit Canine Companions
While Andrew was photographed driving from Wood Farm to Marsh Farm, accompanied by a security guard holding one of his pet dogs, the future of his canine companions remains uncertain. Estate rules at Sandringham permit dog ownership only on a "case by case" basis, meaning Andrew's application to keep his dogs could be denied. This follows revelations that cats are completely banned from the estate due to concerns about local wildlife, including pheasants and game birds, with this rule believed to have been implemented by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Recent Sightings and Ongoing Renovations
This marks just the second time Andrew has been pictured publicly since his arrest for misconduct in a public office last month. Following dramatic images showing him slouched in a car leaving Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk after being detained on his 66th birthday, he had been largely secluded at Wood Farm on the King's vast estate. Meanwhile, Marsh Farm is undergoing renovations to become his permanent residence, with recent activity including removal vans from Gander & White, an art logistics company with a royal warrant, transporting what are believed to be paintings to the property. Boxes labelled 'HRH' were also seen being carried into the farmhouse by removals men last week.
Additional Challenges at the New Property
When Andrew eventually moves into Marsh Farm, he may face another unexpected issue: rodents. A pest control van from Command Pest Control, a firm specialising in eliminating rats and mice, was recently spotted entering the property in the village of Wolferton. While the exact reason for their visit remains unclear, the potential rodent problem is likely exacerbated by the unusual ban on cats, which would normally help control such pests. Andrew has been seen walking dogs near Marsh Farm, including the late Queen's corgis Sandy and Muick, which he and Sarah have been caring for, adding to the complexity of his pet situation.
The former prince's adaptation to his new life continues to unfold amidst these regulatory and practical challenges, with his beloved dogs potentially becoming casualties of the strict rules governing the Sandringham estate.
