King Charles is expected to skip the wedding of his nephew, Peter Phillips, due to a prior commitment to attend the Epsom Derby, according to reports. The monarch's decision comes as Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling on Friday.
Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling confirmed their engagement exclusively with HELLO! magazine, releasing two photos showcasing Harriet's diamond ring. A statement read: 'Mr Peter Phillips... and Ms Harriet Sperling... have today confirmed their official engagement. Both families were informed jointly... and were delighted with the wonderful news.'
The couple, who began dating in 2024, made their first public appearance together at the Badminton Horse Trials in May. They have since been seen at Royal Ascot, Wimbledon, and other events, with Harriet meeting King Charles and Queen Camilla. Harriet, an NHS paediatrician and freelance writer, has been warmly welcomed into the royal family.
Peter was previously married to Autumn Kelly, with whom he shares two daughters, Savannah and Isla. The couple separated in 2020 and divorced in 2021. No wedding date has been set for Peter and Harriet.
