It is a delight to have Lucy Punch's insufferable yet hilarious character Amanda back for a second season of Amandaland, airing at 9pm on BBC One. Still not content with downsizing in south Harlesden (or "SoHa") after her divorce, she pushes forward with her new venture—publishing "aspirational content" online—alongside best pal Anne (Philippa Dunne) and judgmental mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley). Her first obstacle this season comes in the form of a new rival, Abs (Harriet Webb), at a careers talk.
Other Highlights Tonight
For the Love of Dogs With Alison Hammond
At 7.30pm on ITV1, Alison Hammond joins Battersea's intake team, taking on the enjoyable task of naming the dogs brought in. One such dog is a stressed but lovely spaniel, whom she takes a particular liking to after calling him Samuel Hammond. When the vet discovers poor Samuel has arthritis and injured knees, her heart melts even more. Will he need surgery?
Surgeons: At the Edge of Life
A new season of this hospital show follows the cutting-edge work of top surgeons, starting at 9pm on BBC Two with a patient who has a rare penis cancer and requires a partial amputation. Additionally, a woman with severe endometriosis must have a large cyst removed from her kidney.
A Taste for Murder
At 9pm on ITV1, the creator of a dating app is found dead at the bottom of a cliff, but was her demise self-inflicted? An unsigned prenup and secret drug habit come to light, making this seem unlikely. The second episode of this cosy crime caper is heavy on Italian cliches (lots of closeups of ripe lemons) but easy on the eye.
Salisbury Poisonings: The Untold Story
Episode two of this hair-raising documentary at 9pm on Channel 4 shows just how close the city of Salisbury came to suffering a devastating catastrophe in 2018. With the original victims of the Russian novichok attack being treated, army agents and local authorities work round the clock to prevent the poison from spreading more widely.
Only Child
The first series of this solidly funny, surprisingly poignant comedy ended with actor Richard (Greg McHugh) leaving his dad, Ken (Gregor Fisher), for a big TV part in Norway. But don't expect a glamorous Scandi-set series two at 9.30pm on BBC One: Richard is back in Forres on the Moray coast after being fired, hiding out from crush Emily (to whom he's still sending "on set" photos), while helping his dad save the local allotments.
