Coronation Street's Rovers Return Stays the Same in Shock Reveal

Coronation Street's iconic pub, The Rovers Return, has undergone a major rejig, but the big reveal left residents and fans shocked. New landlords Jenny and Johnny Connor kept the pub under wraps before its relaunch, hinting at a fancy gastropub with a possible name change to 'Roverz'. However, when the doors opened, everything looked exactly the same.

Jenny and Johnny forced residents to conga into the pub with their eyes closed before revealing the unchanged interior. The landlords laughed smugly, insisting the pub was perfect as it is and they would never change the name or decor.

The pub's transformation had been teased for weeks, with actors keeping details secret. Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny, revealed on Good Morning Britain that it was a 'big shock' when former producer Kate Oates told her she would become the new landlady.

Matthews shared behind-the-scenes secrets, saying she wears comfortable heels for long days on set. She added that the stressful transition included packing, moving, getting a licence, and training staff all within 24 hours.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
