Matt Harris, the BMX athlete who featured in one of the most dramatic moments on the BBC's The Traitors, has revealed that he remains on good terms with fellow contestant Alex Gray, despite being deceived about her secret relationship with magician Tom Elderfield. The emotional fallout from the revelation saw Matt break down in tears during the show, but he insists there is no bad blood.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the 23-year-old said: 'We've seen each other, we're all friends and there's no bad blood.' However, he admitted initial doubts about maintaining the friendship, given the scale of the deception. 'I don't wanna hang out with people who are lying to me, that was in a game scenario so I do understand it, but they started lying before we even started,' he explained.
Matt also confessed that he initially thought Tom was lying when he revealed the relationship. 'I was like, "Dude, you haven't even spoken to her for the whole time we've been here!"', he recalled. Despite the shock, he has since come to terms with the situation, acknowledging that the game required such tactics.
Reflecting on his tearful reaction, Matt said: 'I just remember being so upset because everyone was shouting at everyone the whole time. I heard that news. I didn't know what to do with myself, I just broke down on national television!' He added that the experience was 'amazing' and joked that his fellow contestants now think he is 'way cleverer' than he actually is.
