Beloved ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly is set to show fans a completely new side of herself in a heartfelt and adventurous Channel 4 documentary series. The move comes amidst significant changes to her long-running morning show on ITV.
An Emotional Adventure in Norway
In the three-part series, titled Lorraine Kelly's Norwegian Odyssey, the 66-year-old broadcaster swaps the ITV studio for the stunning landscapes of Norway. The show, which begins on 15th January at 8pm, sees her fully immersing herself in local culture.
From fishing and farm work to braving icy waters, Kelly embraces it all. She revealed that one moment made her particularly emotional. "Coming close to sea eagles was very emotional for me," she shared. She also proudly noted that catching a large cod on her first attempt would have made her father proud.
Other highlights include meeting the indigenous Sami people and an unusual new favourite activity. "Goat massage is now my new favourite thing!" she exclaimed to Closer Magazine.
A 'Very Different' Side to the TV Icon
Kelly emphasised that this project shows her in a raw and unfiltered light, far removed from her polished morning TV persona. "It's just me, no make-up, hair all over the place, sometimes a tiny bit sweary!" she said.
She expressed a long-held desire to do a travel show, stating she finally got to "throw myself in, whether that meant jumping in freezing water or helping muck out a farm." Channel 4 teased that the series will see her sailing along the coast, spotting whales and eagles, and hoping to witness the Northern Lights.
ITV Shake-Up and Future Projects
This new venture coincides with a major restructuring of ITV's daytime schedule. Kelly's self-titled show has been reduced from one hour to 30 minutes and will air fewer episodes. Good Morning Britain has been extended, while Loose Women continues without a live audience.
Reflecting pragmatically on the changes, Kelly told Woman magazine, "I'm a realist and I knew there had to be cutbacks... It's not like it was." However, she remains hopeful about the future, noting that things could change again in six months and reaffirming her love for her job and team.
Beyond television, Kelly is expanding her creative horizons. She released her debut novel, The Island Swimmer, in 2024 and has confirmed more writing is on the way. She also recently stood in for Jeremy Vine on his BBC Radio 2 show.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9.30am on ITV and ITVX. Lorraine Kelly's Norwegian Odyssey streams on Channel 4 from 15th January.
