Paul Whitehouse's BBC Breakfast Blunder Leaves Wife Fuming

An interview with Paul Whitehouse and Dr Mine Conkbayir on BBC Breakfast took an awkward turn on Friday, as the comedian told his wife it was his 'turn to speak'. The 67-year-old funnyman appeared alongside Mine, 45, to discuss their podcast, I'm ADHD No You're Not, which features interviews with celebrities about their experiences with ADHD.

Dr Conkbayir, a lecturer and author, shared her diagnosis at age 43 and how her husband's reaction inspired the podcast's title. Paul interrupted, saying, 'Can I just jump in by the way? I wasn't that dismissive when you were diagnosed!' Mine retorted, 'It's not about you, though.' Paul quipped, 'Well, it's my turn to speak. If I can just get a word in!'

He explained his initial scepticism and how seeing comedian friends identify as ADHD piqued his curiosity. Mine highlighted failures in the education system for neurodivergent children, noting she is 'inundated' with calls from parents seeking help. The couple agreed Paul was 'tolerant' before her diagnosis, with Mine calling him a 'saint'.

Presenter Naga Munchetty joked about them rowing, and Mine replied, 'Yeah, any marriage counsellors do get in touch.' BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
