Penny Lancaster looked absolutely stunning in a polka dot dress as she graced the red carpet at the Rivals season 2 premiere held at the BFI IMAX South Bank in London on Wednesday night. The 55-year-old model captivated onlookers in a white and black midi dress, which she elegantly paired with a coordinated black long scarf.
Fashion Highlights
Penny draped a stylish white fur coat over her shoulders and opted for comfortable black ballet pumps. The wife of rock legend Rod Stewart carried her essentials in a black clutch and accessorised with a simple gold necklace. She styled her blonde tresses in a neat half-up do, flashing a radiant smile on the red carpet before posing while leaning on a white Rivals car.
Freedom of the City of London
This appearance comes shortly after Penny was granted the prestigious Freedom of the City of London, an honour recognising her work as a police Special Constable and her extensive charity efforts. Rod Stewart, ever the proud husband, accompanied her, turning heads in a Beetlejuice-inspired suit featuring black and white striped trousers and a matching tie.
During the ceremony at Guildhall, Penny joined the ranks of notable figures such as Nelson Mandela, Dame Judi Dench, King Charles, and the England squad from the Women's Football Euro 2022. She expressed her gratitude, stating: 'I am truly humbled and thankful to receive the Freedom of the City of London. It is a true privilege to join a list of notable recipients, and to be recognised by such a historic institution.'
She added: 'I am delighted to accept this honour, which reflects not just my efforts but the dedication of everyone whom I have had the pleasure to work alongside. I look forward to supporting its traditions and contributing to the vibrant community that makes this capital so special.'
Police Career and Charity Work
The Loose Women panellist has served as a Special Constable since 2021, working to enhance safety for women on the streets. She was on duty for Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022 and King Charles' coronation in May 2023. Penny decided to join the police force after participating in Channel 4's Famous and Fighting Crime, where she worked alongside Cambridgeshire Police officers.
Despite a terrifying encounter with a drug dealer who threatened to stab her during filming, she was so inspired by the experience that she successfully completed the application process for the part-time role in 2021. The mother-of-two joined the City of London Police after undergoing training once lockdown restrictions were lifted.
Explaining the rigorous process, Penny said: 'I had to sit exams, English and maths type of exams, and go for an interview with two officers. And then I did a fitness test which was the bleep test which was pretty tricky so I had to get fit for that and I passed. Then I had to do this massive vetting form going through all personal details of myself, my family, people I know and all that kind of thing. So now I'm waiting for the training to begin so I can serve the community. I'm going to become a police officer for the City Police in London.'
