Channel 4 Confirms Return of 'Brilliant' PopMaster TV with Radio Legend Ken Bruce as Host

The highly successful television show PopMaster TV, which first aired in 2023, has gained substantial popularity over the years and is now set to make a triumphant return. Channel 4 and Bright Entertainment, an ITV Studios company, revealed this week that the programme will come back for two fresh series, alongside two celebrity specials, following its four triumphant series on More4.

Ken Bruce Expresses Enthusiasm for the Comeback

Discussing the show's comeback, which will be recorded in Glasgow, radio legend Ken Bruce was eager to express his enthusiasm. He said: "It's been a joy to see the success of PopMaster TV grow, and I am delighted to be back filming once again. I am very much looking forward to testing the brilliant knowledge of pop music fans everywhere." The 20 fresh episodes will feature the identical format as previously, with participants from throughout the country competing through a succession of challenging rounds to demonstrate their pop music expertise.

Format and Legacy of the Show

If contestants succeed, they will compete in the legendary Original PopMaster finale and get the opportunity to claim the sought-after gold disc. PopMaster TV is adapted from the beloved radio quiz, which Ken Bruce presented for over 25 years before departing BBC Radio Two in 2023. The quiz programme has garnered significant acclaim from audiences and continues to bring music enthusiasts together with nostalgia, rivalry, and timeless tracks.

Executive Producer's Comments and Background

Michael Mannes, Executive Producer, added: "I am thrilled to continue the PopMaster TV journey we started a few years back with Ken Bruce and More4. It has proved hugely popular with the audience and we're looking forward to getting back in the studio." Previously, Ken Bruce revealed the story behind retaining his radio show's name, admitting that the BBC did not want to hold the copyright. He told i Newspaper: "I asked somebody within the BBC if they wished to come in and protect [the PopMaster name]. They said, 'Nah, you're alright, I don't think we want to get involved in doing that'. So I went to the trademark office and trademarked it. I've still got the patent. I kept renewing it, and I'm delighted that we're able to keep using it in this way. There wasn't any massive legal battle."

PopMaster TV can be viewed on More4, and its return is expected to delight fans of music quizzes and pop culture alike.
