ITV's The Chase has introduced a mysterious new contestant named Maverick in its latest series of Beat the Chasers, leaving viewers puzzled and sparking widespread speculation about the masked figure's true identity.
Fans took to social media to express their confusion, with one writing: "What's with this Maverick? All a bit odd... #BeatTheChasers." Another added: "What's wrong with this different chaser? Why is he dressed and talking like that? #BeatTheChasers."
The show's official social media teased: "There's A New Face In Town... The Maverick Has Joined The Chasers! But Who Could It Be? Find Out Sunday At 8pm On ITV!" The new chaser joins the established lineup including Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Shaun Wallace, and Darragh Ennis.
Many viewers believe the masked contestant is comedian Joe Pasquale. One fan commented: "That new chaser in #beatthechasers is joe pasquale i’d bet money on it." Another noted: "That's Joe Pasquale under the mask #beatthechasers... The Mave and Rick joke is pure Joe. He's also Brad's best mate, and incredibly intelligent."
Host Bradley Walsh, who has fronted The Chase for years, recently spoke about his continued involvement: "Until people say they've had enough and start switching off, I'll do it. We've had such an extraordinary time together. It's the best job in the world."
