Will Ferrell Injury Halts Filming of Netflix Comedy Series

Production on Netflix's upcoming untitled golf comedy series has been paused after lead actor Will Ferrell sustained a minor injury off-set, according to reports. The 58-year-old star was unable to film scenes scheduled at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, though the injury is not considered serious.

The 10-part series, announced by Netflix on 19 April 2023, remains without a title or official release date. Ferrell plays Lonnie 'The Hawk' Hawkins, a professional golfer who becomes the face of a controversial new league competing with the PGA Tour. He also serves as executive producer alongside Jessica Elbaum's Gloria Sanchez Productions and Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman's T-Street Productions.

Further casting was revealed in August, with Molly Shannon as Stacy, Lonnie's foul-mouthed ex-wife; Jimmy Tatro as Lance, his son and pro golfer; and Fortune Feimster as Sam, Lance's new caddie. Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby also joined, with Luke Wilson confirmed in September as a rival pro golfer.

Ferrell has previously collaborated with many of the cast members, including Wilson on projects like Old School and Anchorman. The series is expected to carry the absurdist humour typical of Ferrell's work, given the involvement of SNL and 30 Rock alumni.

Ferrell has a strong history with Netflix, having released films such as Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, No Good Deed, and the Peabody Award-winning Will & Harper.
