Duke's, a two-floor Western saloon bar, is set to open in Newcastle city centre in July 2026, bringing a taste of American Southern hospitality to the Toon. The venue, located at the bottom of Groat Market, will offer live music and karaoke seven days a week, along with two private karaoke booths themed after country music legends Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton.
Collaboration Between Hospitality Experts
Duke's is a collaboration between two of the UK's leading hospitality groups and nightlife promoters: Zaf Saygillier of the Sayturk Group and Steven Bamford of Loosedays. Together, they bring years of experience in entertainment, hospitality, and venue management to create what they describe as Newcastle's newest nightlife destination.
Modern Western Concept with Authentic Design
According to Sarah Woolley, Design Executive, Duke's is a modern Western bar concept that moves beyond clichés. The design combines natural materials, contemporary detailing, and a warm, immersive atmosphere inspired by the raw character of the American West. The bar's marketing executive, Tristen Egdorf, who hails from the United States, is delighted to bring authentic Southern hospitality to Newcastle, combining the spirit of a classic Western saloon with live country music.
Country Music's Growing Popularity in the UK
The opening of Duke's reflects the explosion of country music in the UK in recent years. American artists like Taylor Swift and Luke Combs have sold out stadiums multiple times, while Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' became one of the biggest songs of 2026. Other Stateside acts with huge UK fanbases include Carrie Underwood, Morgan Wallen, and the Zac Brown Band. Country legend Shania Twain is currently the opening act for Harry Styles at all his Wembley dates.
What to Expect at Duke's
Duke's will span two floors, offering live music and karaoke every day of the week. In addition to the main bar area, the venue features two bespoke karaoke booths inspired by Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. The bar promises a unique experience unlike anything else in the city, blending live country music, Southern hospitality, and an authentic atmosphere inspired by bars and late-night venues in the USA.
