M&S £8.50 Ribeye Beats £19 Wagyu in Taste Test, TikToker Finds
M&S £8.50 Ribeye Beats £19 Wagyu in Taste Test

TikTok food creator Becca Stock, known as Becca Eats Everything, compared Marks & Spencer's most affordable ribeye steak with its premium counterpart, and the results surprised her. The £8.50 30 Day Matured Ribeye outperformed the £19 Collection British Wagyu Ribeye in her taste test.

Cheapest Steak Scores Perfect 10

Becca purchased both steaks from M&S and cooked them simply with a little oil, salt, and pepper. She first tried the £8.50 30 Day Matured Ribeye, describing it as having a large fat cap running through the middle. After tasting, she exclaimed: "Oh, my goodness, that is a f***ing good steak. It's like beef butter." She rated it a perfect 10 out of 10, calling it the best ribeye she had tried from a supermarket.

Premium Wagyu Disappoints

Becca then sampled the £19 Collection British Wagyu Ribeye, noting it fell apart more easily. However, after tasting, she was underwhelmed: "The texture is lovely, it's, like, so soft. It's actually a little bit tasteless. It doesn't have as much of a butteriness to it." She gave the expensive steak a score of 6.5 out of 10, concluding that the cheaper steak was superior.

M&S Food Hall Reputation

Marks & Spencer, founded in 1884 in Leeds as a market stall, has built a reputation for quality across its departments, including its popular Food Halls. The retailer's own-brand products and new releases often generate buzz online, and this steak comparison is the latest example of shoppers testing its offerings.
