Kneecap & Greta Thunberg Join Dublin 10k Run Raising £30k for Gaza
Kneecap's Gaza charity run joined by Greta Thunberg

The Belfast hip hop trio Kneecap have combined their musical tour with a powerful philanthropic mission, raising significant funds for humanitarian aid in Gaza through a series of charity runs. Their latest 10-kilometre event in Dublin gained international attention with a surprise appearance from Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.

A High-Profile Dash for Aid in Dublin

The event took place on Wednesday, 17th December 2025, starting at Dalymount Park in Dublin. The band had publicly invited supporters to join them for the “10K Run for Palestine” in aid of the Gaza Food and Play Project, an organisation delivering essential food parcels and recreational circus workshops to displaced families.

Band member Móglaí Bap, whose real name is Naoise O Caireallain, was at the heart of the action, running alongside fans through Phoenix Park towards the Áras an Uachtaráin. After completing the route, he was seen posing for selfies with participants and sharing a thumbs-up moment with Irish President Catherine Connolly, who waved in support from her residence.

Greta Thunberg Lends Her Support

The run took on an even higher profile when Greta Thunberg was spotted amongst the crowds of participants. Her presence underscored the global resonance of the fundraising effort and brought additional visibility to the cause.

This Dublin run is part of a personal pledge made by Móglaí Bap to complete a 10k in every town and city where Kneecap performs during their tour. The initiative has proven remarkably successful, transforming concert stops into opportunities for grassroots activism.

Substantial Funds Raised for Gaza

The band’s consistent efforts have translated into tangible aid. To date, Kneecap have raised at least £30,000 for humanitarian work in Gaza. This sum has been generated not only through the sponsored runs but also via donations of a portion of their own gig fees.

The Gaza Food and Play Project, the beneficiary of this latest run, focuses on providing both nutritional support and psychological relief through play for children and families affected by the conflict, making the funds critically important.

Known for their politically charged lyrics and outspoken views, particularly regarding the war in Gaza, Kneecap—comprising Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvaí—are effectively channelling their platform into direct action. Their Dublin run, amplified by Greta Thunberg's participation, marks another significant step in their ongoing campaign to support Palestinian civilians.
