History and Museum
Cyfarthfa Castle was built in 1825 for Ironmaster William Crawshay II, reflecting the prosperity of the iron industry. Now a Grade II listed building, it houses a museum and art gallery showcasing Merthyr's heritage, including the first steam whistle, first voting ballot box, and garments by Laura Ashley and Julien McDonald. Tea rooms are available inside.
Park Attractions
The park features a lake and woodland with 1km and 4km walking routes. The 1km lake circular walk takes about 13 minutes. For children, there is a miniature railway operating in summer, a play area, and a splash pad. A café near the splash pad offers refreshments.
