Iceland Serves 15,000 Picky Bits in World Record Attempt

Iceland has claimed an unofficial world record by serving what it says is the 'world's largest picky bits meal' — a 65ft-long table laden with 15,000 snacks. The spread, located at Sefton Park's Palm House in Liverpool, included 1,000 cocktail sausages, 1,500 sausage rolls, 800 scotch eggs and 112kg of cheese.

Britons' Love for Picky Bits

According to research commissioned by the supermarket, more than half of Britons say they 'couldn't live without picky bits food', and nearly two-thirds eat it more than once a week. The study also found that 70% of Brits now prefer a picky bits meal to a takeaway.

Iceland expects Brits to consume more than five billion sausage rolls, cheddar cheese cubes and cocktail sausages over the summer holidays alone — equivalent to more than 78 items per person.

The Unofficial Record Attempt

The 65ft-long table was so extensive that a drone was needed to capture its full length before hundreds of picky bits fans enjoyed the feast. An Iceland Foods spokesperson said: 'When our research revealed just how much Britain loves picky bits, there was only one thing for it. That was for us to build a giant picky bits spread with the nation's favourite bites.'

The spokesperson added: 'Picky bits have become a bit of a national obsession so we wanted to celebrate them in the biggest way possible. Seeing hundreds of people come together to tuck into the feast was a real celebration of the nation's love for this type of food and proves just how much Brits love it.'
