John Wilson, a well-known Scottish farmer affectionately called Jock, died after a tractor overturned in a field near Dunfermline, Fife, on the evening of Friday, June 26. The incident occurred around 8pm at Waulkmill Farm, close to the A985, and police confirmed he died at the scene.
Community Mourns a 'Generous and Lovely' Man
Duckhill dog park, a local business, led tributes on Facebook, describing Wilson as 'generous, lovely, kind' and someone who 'would do anything to help someone.' The post noted he sold the owner her house and land, helped set up the dog park, and would visit each Christmas with a sack of potatoes. 'He will be hugely missed by all who knew him,' the post added.
Jane Wilson, John's daughter, responded: 'Thank you Colleen for your kind words,' to which the park replied: 'Your dad was pure gold Jane.'

Local residents flooded the comments section with memories. One wrote: 'I'm heartbroken to hear this news. He was such a lovely kind, generous man who supported our charity completely.' Another said: 'He was a great man, a huge loss to the family and community that he supported greatly.' A third added: 'What a great man. A true farmer right to the end. Police and HSE Investigating
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: 'Around 8pm on Friday, 26 June, 2026, we were called to a field near the A985, Dunfermline, where a tractor had overturned. A man died at the scene and his family is aware. The death is being treated as unexplained but there are no suspicious circumstances. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.'
