Bicarbonate of soda works as an excellent natural cleaning agent for ovens due to its alkaline properties, which efficiently dissolve grease's acidic and fatty components. Its absorbent characteristics combat smells, while its abrasive consistency shifts persistent grease without damaging the oven's surfaces.

Acidic ingredients such as white vinegar or lemon juice possess antimicrobial properties that help disinfect the oven. However, mixing bicarbonate of soda with white vinegar or lemon creates a fizzing reaction that neutralises both substances, diminishing their effectiveness against grease.

Once the waiting time has elapsed, fill an empty spray bottle with white vinegar or lemon juice and spray it liberally across the oven.
