Rare Leopard and Injured Giraffe Captured on Doorbell Camera Near South African Home
A South African couple's doorbell camera has captured extraordinary footage of a rare leopard and an injured giraffe roaming just 20 metres from their residence. Deon Geldenhuys and Kim Smith installed the Ring camera to monitor animals visiting a water trough near their property, located a 30-minute drive from Kruger National Park, where such wildlife sightings are relatively common.
Unique Wildlife Encounters Recorded
The footage reveals a giraffe, affectionately nicknamed 'Osi-One' due to a broken ossicone, which is a horn-like structure on its head. Alongside the giraffe, a leopard with a distinctive spot pattern was also filmed, showcasing the diverse fauna in the area. Other animals captured include a family of Chacma baboons, with one baby monkey seen falling into the water trough, adding a touch of drama to the recordings.
