Robert Irwin, the 22-year-old wildlife warrior and television personality, has been announced as the host of the 2026 TV Week Logie Awards. He takes over from comedian Sam Pang, who hosted Australia's premier television event for three consecutive years.
Speaking to TV Week, Irwin described the role as 'one of the most exciting things I've ever been asked to do.' He added, 'Throughout my life, my goal has been to spread an important message not only through our work at Australia Zoo, but also on the screen.'
The announcement ends months of speculation about Pang's successor. Irwin's name had consistently appeared among industry favourites, reflecting his rapid rise to become one of Australia's most popular television stars. His career has evolved dramatically from his early days at Australia Zoo, building on the conservation legacy of his late father, Steve Irwin.
Irwin's television profile has grown significantly in recent years. His role as co-host of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! showcased his natural charisma, while his victory on the American Dancing With the Stars late last year transformed him into a global star. He is set to host a new spin-off of the show for Hulu next month and will appear as a special guest judge on MasterChef Australia this week.
The Logies are familiar territory for Irwin, who earned nominations for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter and the Gold Logie Award in 2024. 'I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour,' he said. 'Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don't take lightly. I cannot wait.'
