Lucy Letby's Secret Affair With Married Doctor Exposed

Lucy Letby, the nurse convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others, exchanged flirty messages with a married doctor who later testified against her in court. The revelations have emerged as a new Channel 4 documentary, 'Lucy Letby: Murder or Mistake', airs, exploring both sides of her case.

During her trial at Manchester Crown Court, it was suggested that Letby killed two premature triplets within 24 hours to gain the attention of Dr A, a married doctor she had a 'crush' on. The pair exchanged supportive text messages following the deaths, and prosecutors alleged their relationship extended beyond professional boundaries.

After Letby was removed from the ward, they continued meeting for coffee, meals, shopping trips, and visits to her home. Letby maintained they were just friends, saying: 'I loved him as a friend. I was not in love with him.' However, text messages presented to jurors showed flirtatious exchanges, including references to 'go commando' and love hearts.

Despite being handed 15 life sentences, Letby insists she is innocent, and a campaign to free her has gained traction online. Peter Skelton, representing some victims' families, described the campaign as run by 'conspiracists' and 'grossly offensive'. One mother, whose baby Letby tried to kill, said: 'What more was it going to take for people to realise that she's not innocent?'

Letby's childhood friend Dawn described the accusations as 'the most out of character that you could ever put against Lucy'. Letby, described as a 'quiet geek' by colleagues, had a busy social life and a secret boyfriend, though she denied having an affair with Dr A.
