Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has shared the exciting news that she and her husband, EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith, are expecting a baby girl. The couple revealed the gender in a heartwarming social media post on Boxing Day.
A Sweet Boxing Day Announcement
The 38-year-old actress, best known for playing Tracy Metcalfe on the ITV soap, took to Instagram to share an adorable video. The clip featured the couple's daughter, Bonnie, who was born in December 2021, sitting on a staircase with her male cousins. Text on the video asked: "When it's your last Christmas before becoming a big sister... will I still be the only girl in the family?"
The gender reveal moment showed a football being kicked, releasing a burst of pink powder into the air as the family celebrated. Overlay text declared "Girl power coming in 2026." Amy captioned the post: "New addition to the family incoming!"
Flood of Congratulations from Co-Stars and Fans
The happy news prompted an immediate wave of well-wishes from Amy's 194,000 followers and her Emmerdale colleagues. Fellow cast member Natalie Ann Jamieson, who plays Amy Wyatt, commented: "Can not waitttttt x x x" with heart emojis.
Michelle Hardwick, known as Vanessa Woodfield, posted heart emojis, while Bradley Riches (Lewis Barton) added three white hearts. Former co-star Shona McGarty simply said: "OMG YAAAY!! Congratulations."
Fans were equally delighted. One supporter wrote: "Bonnie is gonna be amazing big sister to baby girl." Another noted: "Bonnie’s hair is gorgeous!!! So happy for you another little girlie to add to the boy gang." A third fan added: "So happy for you both looking forward to seeing your bundle of joy hope you had a brilliant Christmas sending much love to you all."
A Growing Family for the Soap Star Couple
The couple, who tied the knot in Montenegro in September 2023 after getting engaged in August 2022, first announced they were expecting their second child in September of this year. Amy shared a black-and-white video on Instagram, soundtracked by Nick Drake's 'Northern Sky', where she told Bonnie: "Mummy and daddy have got a special secret to tell you... Mummy has got a baby in her tummy. A baby sister or brother for you."
She captioned that post: "Smith/Walsh baby 2.0 incoming 2026," which was met with congratulations from pregnant co-star Isabel Hodgins and others.
Speaking previously about balancing family life with work, Amy admitted: "It's just a juggle, a struggle sometimes ... I've barely seen him since we got married. We do feel like newlyweds, we haven't been together that long in the grand scheme of things, so our relationship is still quite new and fresh, but then you throw a toddler in the mix and work commitments, and it's crazy."
The pair's romance began in 2020 after a chance meeting in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. Amy has described their meeting as a "twist of fate," revealing that a series of unexpected events led to them both being there that week. Toby has spoken about how becoming parents strengthened their bond, telling OK! magazine: "We’ve always been a really good team anyway, and I think Bonnie coming along has shown that we’re meant to be parents together, because we’re finding our roles."
