Jamie Laing sparks backlash for 'superhero' wife post 3 weeks after birth
Jamie Laing criticised for new mum 'superwoman' post

Reality TV star Jamie Laing has found himself at the centre of a social media storm after posting a tribute to his wife, Sophie Habboo, which critics claim sets damaging and 'unrealistic expectations' for new mothers.

Backlash Over 'Superwoman' Praise

The Made in Chelsea star, 36, shared a video on his Instagram on 29 December 2025, showing his wife, just three weeks after giving birth to their son Ziggy earlier in the month, applying finishing touches to their Christmas dining table. In the caption, Laing wrote: "POV: your wife is 3 weeks postpartum and still creates a magical Christmas."

While some followers saw the post as a sweet celebration, many, including prominent mum influencers, quickly slammed it as insensitive. One pointedly commented: "This is lovely but also let’s not normalise postpartum women being ‘superwoman’ it’s not normal."

Critics Highlight Privilege and Pressure

The criticism focused on the perceived pressure the post places on other new parents who may not have the same level of support or resources. One critic noted: "Not everyone has the money, resources and support to be able to do this."

Others questioned the authenticity of the scene, speculating about outside help. A comment read: "Good she is recovering but be honest with your posts. You’ve paid someone to do this and got a chef in to do everything... keep it real for those not able to get near this."

The couple had previously checked into what was described as the 'UK's leading postpartum wellness retreat' after Ziggy's birth, and had moved into a £12 million home ahead of the baby's arrival.

A Timeline of the Couple's Journey

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, 31, have shared much of their relationship publicly. After dating for several years, Laing proposed at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021, the site of their first date.

The pair then tied the knot in a London civil ceremony in April 2023, followed by a larger celebration in Marbella the next month. They announced they were expecting their first child in June 2025 via a sweet Instagram post.

The online debate highlights the ongoing conversation about the portrayal of postpartum life on social media, the realities of new motherhood, and the influence of celebrity posts on public perception and personal pressure.
