Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has revealed she faced a second cancer scare, causing sleepless nights as she awaited results. The 34-year-old dancer was diagnosed with grade three aggressive breast cancer last May after discovering a lump on her honeymoon.
She endured emergency hospital stays due to sepsis and blood clots during chemotherapy, later undergoing a mastectomy. In July, she received a second diagnosis for another type of cancer and began chemotherapy in August. In February, she announced 'no evidence of disease' — words she called her 'biggest accomplishment yet'.
However, a recent check-up raised concerns. 'It was a scare, such a worrying time,' Amy said while filming her BBC documentary. 'I'll never forget them calling me to say we're sorry but we've seen something we don't like the look of. I was in disbelief, I thought I can't go back through this again, I can't miss Strictly again.'
Amy is set to return to Strictly this year, sharing an emotional message: 'I'm so happy and grateful to be back. MY HEART IS SO HAPPY.' Her journey over the past 15 months is captured in the documentary 'Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me'.
