Body Found in Search for Missing Texas Teen

Police in Texas have made a grim discovery in the search for a 19-year-old woman who vanished on Christmas Eve. Authorities found a body in a field close to the San Antonio home of missing teenager Camila Mendoza Olmos.

Discovery Near Family Home

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced on Tuesday 30 December 2025 that a body had been located earlier that day. The discovery was made in a field roughly a few hundred yards from Mendoza Olmos's residence. Sheriff Salazar stressed it was too early to tell if the body was that of the missing teen, but noted the clothing found was very similar to one of the descriptions given for what she was wearing.

The area had been checked previously, but a second search was conducted due to tall grass. The body was found approximately 10 minutes into this renewed effort. A firearm, which may be linked to a missing weapon belonging to a relative of Mendoza Olmos, was also recovered nearby.

Investigation Points to Personal Crisis

Investigators stated they do not currently suspect foul play. Sheriff Salazar indicated there are some indicators of possible self-harm. The cause and manner of death are pending official determination.

The sheriff provided details on Mendoza Olmos's recent state of mind, describing a young person going through a very tough time. He revealed she had been struggling with school, work, and a recently ended relationship, and there were past indications of suicidal ideation and signs of depression.

A Community Reminder on Mental Health

The last confirmed sighting of Camila Mendoza Olmos was on Wednesday 24 December at around 7 a.m. local time. Footage released by the sheriff's office shows her walking on Wildhorse Parkway near her home.

Sheriff Salazar used the tragic development to issue a heartfelt plea to the public. Check on people and don't take anything for granted, he urged, adding, If you are going through a crisis yourself, reach out and get help.
