Lisa Curry has paid an emotional tribute to her late daughter Jaimi on what would have been her 38th birthday. Jaimi, the eldest daughter of the former Olympian and her ex-husband Grant Kenny, died in September 2020 after an 18-year battle with alcohol addiction and anorexia.
The 63-year-old took to Instagram to share a series of photos, including images of herself with Jaimi and her siblings Jett and Morgan. One poignant picture showed Lisa sitting in shallow water, holding and kissing a small Sonny Angel figurine, which she indicated held sentimental value for her daughter.
Currently holidaying in Italy with her husband Mark Tabone, Lisa revealed that giving birth to Jaimi was the 'best day' of her life. 'Happy birthday to our angel Jaimi. Not a day goes by without mentioning her in some way and always spoken about,' she wrote. 'The best day of my life 38 years ago when I became a mummy for the first time.'
In the heartfelt post, Lisa disclosed that she had scattered some of Jaimi's ashes in the waters of Sardinia, while a friend scattered ashes in a lavender field in France. 'She's with me here in Italy, came for a swim with me, and then my friend Georgie and I left some ashes in the beautiful waters of Sardinia,' she said. 'All our family celebrating her life today in their own way. Never forgotten. Forever young and beautiful. Resting in peace.'
The tribute drew an outpouring of support from followers, with one commenting: 'And how proud she would be to know that you're still there for others. Sharing your care and love in the hope that others can recover.' Another added: 'You are in my heart and thoughts. I know too well how heartbreaking this terrible illness is that took your gorgeous girl.'
Lisa has previously spoken about her grief, revealing in January last year that she had returned to the gym after '3 1/2 years of sadness and sorrow'. She also recently gave up alcohol after a health scare while holidaying in Fiji.
