Prince William Reveals Emotional Toll of Air Ambulance Work

The Duke of Cambridge has spoken about the emotional impact of his time as an air ambulance pilot, describing how he would 'take home people's trauma'. Prince William served with the East Anglian Air Ambulance from 2015 to 2017.

In an episode of Apple's Time to Walk podcast, recorded while walking around the Queen's Sandringham estate, he said the work made him sad despite a happy home life. He added that talking about the incidents helped, as did meeting a patient who recovered.

The prince also shared memories of his mother, Princess Diana, playing Tina Turner's 'The Best' on the school run to ease his anxiety. He said the song now brings back 'lots of memories' of her.

He revealed that his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, often argue over music, with Charlotte enjoying Shakira's 'Waka Waka' and dancing around the kitchen.

Prince William's episode airs on Apple Music 1 on Monday at 08:00, 16:00 and 21:00 GMT.
