Repair Shop's Jay Blades Steps Back from Social Media After Uncle's Murder

Jay Blades, the host of BBC's The Repair Shop, has announced he is taking a break from social media following the murder of his uncle. The 54-year-old shared the news in an emotional Instagram video on Monday, revealing he had just attended his uncle's funeral.

In the video, Blades said his uncle's death had 'really affected' him and left him feeling 'messed up'. He explained: 'I've just been to my uncle's funeral, he was murdered a few weeks ago. A really nice guy, it shouldn't have happened to him but it really affected me and I feel a little bit messed up.'

The presenter stated he plans to seek therapy and take time to relax, saying: 'So I'm coming off social media for a bit. I'm going to go and get some therapy and just chill out because when things happen, sometimes you really need to take stock and just relax.' He assured followers he would return soon, signing off with: 'Take care of each other, take care of yourself. I'll see you guys soon.'

And good on you for taking care of your mental health.'

Blades lives in Ironbridge, Shropshire, with his wife Lisa Zbozen, whom he married in Barbados in 2022. He has three children, including a 17-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
