Ulrika Jonsson Hospitalised After Third Varicose Vein Surgery

Ulrika Jonsson has shared a candid health update after undergoing her third varicose vein procedure, describing the experience as painful and uncomfortable but ultimately successful. The 58-year-old presenter took to Instagram on Friday to post photos from her hospital bed, clad in a medical gown and compression stockings.

Jonsson revealed that the operation, which she described as her third and final treatment, involved modern techniques such as 'microwaving' and 'foaming' the veins. She noted that her last procedure was 21 years ago, and this time the recovery has been challenging, with her legs 'bleeding like vertical colanders' and wrapped in surgical stockings.

Despite the discomfort, Jonsson expressed gratitude to her consultant, Mr Northeast, and the medical team. She was advised to rest for eight days, though she joked that staying still would be difficult. 'Send healing vibes and baked goods,' she quipped in her post.

The hospital admission comes weeks after Jonsson spoke openly about her struggle with alcohol dependency. In a podcast interview, she recalled a heartbreaking phone call with her best friend that eventually led her to seek help. She has now been sober for over a year, crediting that moment with saving her life.
