Lynette Bolton, the wife of Sydney Swans football legend Jude Bolton, has delivered a heart-wrenching update on her health, revealing she was forced to begin an intensive course of chemotherapy just days before Christmas.
A Shocking Diagnosis Just Weeks Before Christmas
The 44-year-old television presenter and certified money coach shared the devastating news that she is battling an aggressive form of breast cancer. Speaking to Perth Now, Lynette explained the nature of her diagnosis. "Mine is not hormone driven. Basically it's aggressive and it's quick growing," she said. However, she noted a potential silver lining, stating, "But what that means is it reacts well to chemo. So it's quite voracious, but it actually responds quite well to treatment."
The alarming discovery was made suddenly at the end of November. "It was the end of November and I was just having a shower, and just realised that there was a lump around 2.5 to 3cm and got onto it pretty quickly," Lynette recounted. A mere ten days later, she received the heartbreaking confirmation of her cancer diagnosis.
Facing a 'Horrendous' Treatment Regime
Lynette Bolton is now confronting a daunting treatment plan involving 12 rounds of chemotherapy. She described the process as a "horrendous treatment" but emphasised her determination to "be positive and look at silver linings" throughout what she calls a "crazy" experience.
She announced her health battle publicly on Instagram in December, posting a video of herself beginning treatment. Her candid caption read: "Starting chemo six days before Christmas certainly wasn't on my 2025 bingo card... It is what it f**king is. Less than four weeks ago I noticed a lump on my right breast."
She detailed the whirlwind of medical appointments that followed, including mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, MRIs, and consultations with surgeons and oncologists, culminating in the start of weekly immunotherapy and chemo.
A Message of Solidarity to Other Women
Amid her own struggle, Lynette took the opportunity to send a powerful message of support to other women facing similar battles, particularly during the festive season. She directly addressed those recently diagnosed, sitting in waiting rooms, or putting on a brave face for loved ones.
"For the person who's just been diagnosed. For the one sitting in a waiting room trying not to spiral. For the one pretending they're fine so everyone else doesn't worry. Especially so close to Christmas," she wrote. "If that's you - you don't have to be brave all the time. You don't have to stay positive. You just have to get through today."
She expressed hope that by sharing her story, others might feel less alone, concluding, "And if my story helps you feel even a fraction less alone then I'm glad I'm sharing and I'm so bloody glad you're here. We'll take this one step at a time. Together."
Lynette, who hosts Channel Seven's 'Travel Oz' show, stated that this health battle has forced her to reassess her priorities for the coming year. She is married to former footballer Jude Bolton, 45; the couple wed in 2010 and have two daughters.
