The mental health and wellness community is mourning the loss of Jordy Glassner, a beloved grief podcaster and therapist, who has died at the age of 34 following a courageous fight against brain cancer.
A Heartbreaking Diagnosis and Brave Fight
Jordy Glassner, the co-host of the Grief Street podcast, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday afternoon, her family confirmed. Her journey with cancer began in 2023 when she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour. Initially, her recovery appeared positive, but later symptoms, including numbness in her body, led to a devastating discovery.
A subsequent biopsy revealed she had a grade 4 glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite her battle, Jordy continued to connect with her audience, offering support and insights into processing loss until the disease ultimately took her life.
Tributes Pour In for a Life Dedicated to Healing
Announcing her death on her official Instagram and podcast page, her family shared a poignant message: “It is with profound sadness that we share that on Tuesday afternoon, Jordy Glassner passed away peacefully at her home. She was simply the best.”
The statement encouraged friends, followers, and listeners to share their memories publicly, writing: “In lieu of private messages, we encourage everyone near and far to share any stories, memories, or words about Jordy in the comments. Everyone deserves to know how much she meant to the world.”
The post was met with an outpouring of grief. One follower, who had a personal connection to the disease, commented: “Heartbroken to see this. I followed Jordy’s journey with GBM alongside my dad’s who passed away a year ago. The most awful disease that has stolen the most incredible people from us.”
A Legacy Built on Friendship and Compassion
Jordy launched the Grief Street podcast in 2024 alongside her childhood friend and co-host, Erika Rozmid. Titled Where Hearts Meet, Heal and Hope Together, the podcast was born from a friendship that began in kindergarten. Its mission was to help listeners navigate the complex journey of grief, offering a supportive ear and shared experiences.
Erika Rozmid shared a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram, expressing the depth of her loss: “There will never be enough words to describe the pain of losing my person... I have never known a big life moment without Jordy.” She added, “All I want is to call her and ask how I’m supposed to survive this life without her. I miss my person deeply.”
Jordy is survived by her husband, Hank, and their young son, Brody. Her work through the podcast, dedicated to helping others through their darkest times, leaves a powerful legacy of empathy and connection in the face of profound loss.
