A community in Barry, Wales, is in mourning after the tragic death of a young child following a medical emergency at a residential property.
Emergency services rush to the scene
The incident unfolded on Sunday, January 4, at around 9:25pm. Emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance, were dispatched to an address on Gladstone Road in Barry following a report of a toddler suffering a medical episode.
Witnesses reported a significant emergency response, with approximately seven emergency service vehicles attending the scene. Paramedics and police officers worked immediately to assist the child.
Police confirm tragic outcome
Despite the swift and professional efforts of all crews, the toddler's life could not be saved. A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, the force said: "Despite an immediate response from ambulance crews and police the toddler was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious."
