Lionel Richie Ends Concert Early Due to Dizziness

Concert Cut Short After Dizziness

Lionel Richie, the 77-year-old singer, ended his concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, early after experiencing dizziness. The show, which was the first date of his joint Sing A Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, saw Richie take an unusual 40-minute break before ultimately leaving the stage.

Performance Details

During his performance, Richie had to sit down multiple times while singing Dancing On The Ceiling, telling the audience he felt dizzy. After performing Three Times A Lady from the piano, he announced an intermission and left the stage. His band followed minutes later, and saxophonist Dino Soldo returned to inform the crowd that Richie could not continue due to illness.

Fan Reactions

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Soldo said: "Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue. Additional information will be available." Fans took to social media expressing concern, with videos showing Richie sitting on the edge of a platform. One fan told the Star Tribune that Richie remarked he had "been in this business long enough" to know that "if you feel dizzy, you sit down."

Tour Impact

Some audience members began leaving after the band exited the stage, about 15 minutes after Richie's departure. One fan quoted by the Star Tribune said: "I’m super bummed. This was my first time [seeing Richie] and I’m old." The tour, which includes 26 cities, is scheduled to continue with a performance at the United Center in Chicago on 26 June.
