Rescuers Plead for Home for 'Broken Dog' Youmi with Heartbreaking Past
Plea for Home for 'Broken Dog' Youmi with Heartbreaking Past

Rescuers are making an urgent plea for a loving home for Youmi, a two-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed dog whose heartbreaking start to life has left her overlooked by potential adopters. The dog, who lost a leg after being hit by a truck as a tiny puppy on the streets of Egypt, is now facing an uncertain future despite her resilient and affectionate nature.

A Life of Pain and Resilience

Youmi's ordeal began when she was struck by a vehicle, causing devastating injuries to one of her legs that could not be saved. Rescuers were forced to amputate the limb, but the brave canine adapted remarkably well to life on three legs. She is described as "full of life," with a happy personality and a love for people and other dogs.

Current Situation in Egypt

Despite her upbeat demeanor, Youmi remains in Egypt with the woman who rescued her. However, she is not living in a proper home but is confined to her rescuer’s garage due to a lack of safe alternatives. The situation is becoming more precarious as neighbours reportedly dislike street dogs, and the rescuer is soon due to leave the country.

In addition to being a tripod dog, Youmi is also deaf—a factor rescuers fear may deter potential adopters. But they insist she is just as capable of giving love as any other dog. She has already been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, making her ready to travel to the UK as soon as a forever home is found.

Plea for a Forever Home

Rescuers are asking for a loving and patient home willing to welcome a dog with additional needs. While she has not been tested with cats, Youmi is reported to be friendly with both humans and other dogs. Those caring for her are pleading for someone to look past her disabilities and see the affectionate dog underneath.

Online reactions to her story have been filled with sympathy. One person wrote: "Oh beautiful girl. I sincerely hope you find your soulmate, someone who will protect, love, and make up for everything you've lost." Another added: "Loving home please." A third user simply said: "She's gorgeous."
