Brits Reveal Top Motivations: Sex, Money, or Fame?

A new study of 2,000 British adults has uncovered the nation's top ambitions, with travel, writing a book, and becoming an influencer leading the list. The research, commissioned by Naked Smoothies, found that 34% of respondents dream of travelling the world, 19% want to write a book, and 9% aspire to become an influencer.

Other popular goals include starting a business (17%), running a marathon (11%), and starring in a movie (6%). When asked about their primary motivators, 47% cited personal fulfilment, followed by earning more money (37%) and escaping the nine-to-five grind (17%).

Interestingly, 11% said they are driven by a desire to prove others wrong, while some seek recognition or aim to become more attractive to a partner. The research also highlighted generational differences in fear of failure: 51% of Gen Zs worry about being laughed at if their ambitions fail, compared to 41% of Millennials, 31% of Gen X, and 18% of Boomers.

Liz Ashdown, a spokesperson for Naked Smoothies, commented: “Most people are far more ambitious than they admit, often keeping their biggest goals and aspirations to themselves. Our research shows that fear of judgement and fear of failure continue to hold people back.”

Overall, 45% of Brits consider themselves ambitious, while 15% do not. The study also revealed that a financial safety net (28%), more confidence (17%), and time (15%) would help people pursue their biggest ambitions.
