The Carabao Cup will feature a preliminary round this season after nine Premier League clubs secured European qualification, the EFL has confirmed.
Crystal Palace became the ninth English side to guarantee European football by winning the Conference League, joining Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Sunderland and Brighton.
The preliminary round will involve four League Two teams: York City, Rochdale, Crawley Town and Tranmere Rovers. York and Rochdale, promoted from the National League, will face Crawley and Tranmere respectively.
The first two rounds are regionalised, but the winner of the match involving Crawley will move into the southern section, despite the other three teams normally being in the northern half. The draw will be adjusted before Round Two to recalibrate the sections.
Round One will feature 70 teams, with 35 advancing to Round Two, where they will be joined by the 11 Premier League clubs without European commitments. The nine European-bound Premier League sides will enter in Round Three.
