Omoda and Jaecoo to Double Line-Up in UK Growth Push

Chinese car brands Omoda and Jaecoo are set to more than double their model line-up in the UK as part of an aggressive growth strategy. The group, owned by Chery International, aims to achieve one million global sales per year by 2027, with the UK playing a pivotal role in its expansion plans.

Six New Models on the Horizon

Over the next two years, six new models—two for Omoda and four for Jaecoo—will arrive in British showrooms. This follows the Jaecoo 7 becoming the UK's best-selling car in March and Chery's market share more than doubling year-on-year. The UK has been highlighted as a standout market for Chery, serving as a global benchmark during a recent business summit at the company's headquarters in Wuhu, China.

Expanding the Omoda Range

Omoda currently offers the Omoda 5, 7, and 9 models. The upcoming Omoda 4 is a compact crossover hybrid, likely available as a fully electric variant. A heavily revised Omoda 5 was showcased at the summit, along with an even smaller all-electric Omoda 2 SUV, measuring around 4.2 metres long. This model could undercut competitors like the Volkswagen ID. Cross, Kia EV2, and Skoda Epiq. Additionally, a larger Omoda model, codenamed T1QC, described as a "tougher crossover", will be approximately 4.6 metres long with four-wheel-drive capability, slotting between the Omoda 5 and 7.

Jaecoo's Growing Family

Jaecoo will introduce four new models. A small SUV called the Jaecoo 3, based on the Omoda 2, is expected to be competitively priced. A range-topping Jaecoo 9, nearly five metres long, is also planned. Another model, codenamed T1TP, is designed for buyers seeking ample space, particularly those who enjoy fishing and outdoor activities. The largest Jaecoo model, codenamed KP31, will be a big pick-up truck measuring around 5.4 metres in length.

New Brands and Advanced Technology

Chery International is also introducing three additional brands to the UK: Lepas, with a trio of design-led SUVs; rugged 4x4 brand iCar; and the reborn Freelander family. All new Omoda and Jaecoo models will focus on New Energy Vehicles, utilising plug-in and self-charging hybrid systems, as well as fully electric powertrains. Upcoming cars will feature a new operating system called Super Intelligent OS for infotainment, and Chery's latest self-parking technology, Super Intelligent Valet Parking.

Humanoid Robots to Assist in Showrooms

Chery also debuted its AiMoga robotic brand at the summit, showcasing humanoid robots designed to assist sales staff and customers in showrooms. These robots can provide additional information about vehicles, enhancing the customer experience.
