Ashley Roberts Speaks Out on 'Uncomfortable' I'm A Celeb Feud
Former Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts has candidly discussed the escalating tensions between professional boxer David Haye and actor Adam Thomas during their time on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. Appearing on This Morning with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, the 44-year-old radio presenter admitted the situation became deeply uncomfortable for the campmates.
Roberts Details the Heated Exchanges
Roberts explained that what initially seemed like playful banter between the two men quickly crossed a line. "Bless him, Adam was not feeling well in there, he was feeling quite ill, and David Haye just kept pushing and pushing," she revealed. "At first, you think it's lads' banter, but then it just went a bit too far. It was uncomfortable at times!"
The atmosphere became so strained that Roberts and some of the other female contestants felt compelled to leave the camp temporarily to regroup. "I think some of us girls actually went outside of camp and just took a moment to just breathe together," she shared, emphasising that the overall experience was "tough in there!".
Viewer Backlash Over Haye's Conduct
The conflict reached a boiling point during a recent episode when David Haye publicly challenged Adam Thomas's decision to opt out of the 'Termite Terror' trial. Thomas cited dehydration as his reason for not participating, a justification that Haye vehemently rejected.
"Dehydrated? We've all got the same amount of water! Adam is doing it, and that's it!" Haye snapped. He further questioned Thomas's commitment, adding, "When is your top form gonna come? Why aren't we forcing this dude to go and do it? Coincidentally, every time there's something to do, he's not feeling well!"
ITV audiences expressed significant fury over Haye's aggressive approach, with many taking to social media to criticise his behaviour towards the Waterloo Road actor.
Adam Thomas's Emotional Social Media Response
In the aftermath, Adam Thomas addressed the ordeal in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday, April 19th. He wrote about the profound personal challenge he faced, stating he was proud he did not quit despite immense pressure.
"What I'm most proud of is that at times like this, I wanted to walk, I wanted to quit, but I didn't. Even when I wanted to walk away, even when it felt like too much, I never give up! and that means everything to me," Thomas shared.
He directly referenced David Haye's role, confirming, "He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I've told David this, and he's apologised and that's that! I've moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge." Thomas concluded by thanking fans for their supportive messages.
The pre-recorded series of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa has clearly left a lasting impact on its participants, with Ashley Roberts's revelations shedding new light on the intense dynamics behind the scenes. This Morning continues to air weekdays from 10am on ITV.
